Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Fable + application and services ("Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Fable is an online platform that connects customers with independent providers — businesses and individuals offering services, education, rentals, food, casting and experiences, selling products, hosting events and creating content. Fable provides discovery, booking, payment and messaging tools. Fable does not provide, supply, cook, teach, rent, host or perform any of the services, products or events listed, and is not the provider's employer, agent or partner.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Teen accounts (13–17) have extra protections, and selling, hosting events, going live and paying by card are for adults (18+). You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You stay signed in on a device until you sign out.

3. Bookings, payments & fees

When you book or order, you agree to pay the listed price plus any applicable deposits, escrow amounts, taxes and fees shown at checkout. Card payments are handled by our payment provider. Refunds, deposit releases and cancellations follow the policy shown for the relevant booking and applicable law. Fable may charge providers subscription and/or commission fees for business tools; these provider plans are business-to-business subscriptions billed by Fable and are not consumer in-app purchases.

4. Who you're dealing with, and who is responsible

Every booking, order, ticket, rental, class or other purchase is a contract directly between the customer and the provider. Fable is not a party to it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fable holds no liability for anything between providers and customers in any category, including the quality, safety, legality, timing or description of what is offered, and anything that happens during or because of it.

Providers are solely responsible for what they offer and for holding and keeping up to date every licence, registration, certificate, check and insurance their work needs — for example food business registration and food hygiene ratings or certificates, DBS or background checks, public liability or hire insurance, and professional qualifications. Anything a provider shows on Fable (certificates, ratings, badges, insurance, qualifications or reviews) is shown so customers can see it; it is provided by the provider and is not a guarantee, check or endorsement by Fable. Customers should satisfy themselves that a provider is right for them.

Before selling or hosting, providers confirm these responsibilities in the app. Providers handle complaints, refunds and claims about their services, are responsible for their own taxes and for following the laws where they trade (including consumer, food safety, health and safety, equality and data protection law), and agree to compensate (indemnify) Fable for losses caused by their services, their content or their breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law. Providers grant Fable a licence to display their listing content within the Service.

If you are a consumer, your legal rights against the provider are not affected — for example under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the EU consumer rules or US state consumer laws. Where a provider isn't trading as a business, EU and UK consumer protection rules may not apply to your contract with them.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including: breaking the law; infringing others' rights; posting harmful, fraudulent, harassing or misleading content; attempting to circumvent security or payments; scraping; or interfering with the Service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit (listings, reviews, messages, media). You grant Fable a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and use that content to operate and improve the Service. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to share it.

7. AI assistant

The Fable assistant and automatic replies are provided for convenience and may be inaccurate or incomplete. They do not constitute professional advice. Always verify important details directly with the provider before relying on them.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Fable does not guarantee that listings, providers or outcomes will meet your expectations, and does not verify the information providers show unless a badge expressly says a check was carried out. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law — such as liability for death or personal injury caused by Fable's own negligence, for fraud, or certain statutory consumer rights.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fable is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data or goodwill. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to Fable in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

10. Termination & account deletion

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy → Delete account. Members have 14 days to change their mind. Providers have 30 days, during which their listings and shop are paused and they can sign in to reclaim their account; after that the account can no longer be accessed. A private copy of a closed provider's business record is kept for 6 years to investigate fraud, disputes and legal claims, as our Privacy Policy explains. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service and its users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including section 4) will survive.

11. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts, subject to any mandatory local rights to bring a claim locally.

12. Emails and notifications

We email you confirmations (bookings, tickets, orders, refunds, payouts, cancellations and account changes), verification codes, security alerts and money or legal notices. Everything else — reminders, updates, likes, follows and offers — arrives as an in-app notification, which you can manage in Settings → Notifications.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in-app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
